and how much it cost
Line of Events
Spanning four tumultuous decades during The Troubles in Northern Ireland.. The real Dolours Price was married for two decades (1983-2003) to Irish actor Stephen Rea. During that time, Rea appeared in the film for which he is probably best known in the United States: the 1992 romantic thriller The Crying Game. In that film, Rea plays Fergus, a highly reluctant and ambivalent member of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) – the same organization with which Price was involved for many years.. The book Say Nothing is an excellent and even-handed examination of the cause.
The show is art done and well done
The series follows the book very closely and communicates the major themes and tragic lessons of that brutal period of occupation. The acting and casting choices capture the essence of the people the show is about. It manages to inform and entertain and tells a story that has rarely been told. The details of people and places are fantastic. One can marvel at the production values of each episode and the historicity of the production.
She turns out to be very nice
Little things like a brand of cigarettes or the way the fish and chips are served, combined with some character, taking an Armalite AR18 was a very nice touch. The real Dolours Price was known to be funny and charming and that shines through. Many of the characters are very likable, even the ones you feel shouldn’t be. It is a very human story told humanly. It helps someone outside the conflict to understand the motivations for why someone would take up arms against another.
It wasn’t really about Catholics vs
Protestants. This was just the arbitrary line that was drawn to divide the working class and the working poor people of Ireland and set them against each other. Also there was a comment from another review about immigrants invading Ireland. They were immigrants who fought for a free and united Ireland. It was never about how your last name was spelled or what church to pray at.
To compare an influx of immigrants from troubled countries to Oliver Cromwell is to dishonor the names of those who suffered and sacrificed
It was about poor people fighting for equal rights and to be free and that’s what the story is about and the price paid for that fight. The moment we turn against those who seek refuge or deny them comfort, we would be no better than those who mocked and mocked our ancestors who left Ireland and went to other countries like America where the Irish were not even welcome
